Updated: Nov 2, 2020
Here is a nice and easy recipe to make Red chutney for Mysore Masala Dosa. This chutney is used as a spread on the dosa. Also, goes very well with Idli and Chapati too.
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chana dal
3 Byadgi or Kashmiri dry red chilli (This gives color)
2 spicy dry Red chili. I prefer Guntur chilli (This gives spice)
15 - 20 cloves of Garlic
¼ medium-sized Onion
Small lime sized tamarind
1/2 tsp salt
Warm oil in a pan on low flame
Add chana dal. Add the red chili. Roast for a min.
Add the garlic and then the onion.
Roast until light brown.
Let it cool.
Blend it dry.
Add 2 tbsp water and blend into a thick paste.
