How to Make Tomato Paste
Updated: Nov 17, 2020

Making tomato paste at home is super easy and can be a very healthy replacement for store-bought tomato ketchup and hot sauce in many dishes. It can also be used in curries or soups.
This time I have used fresh homegrown tomatoes to make this paste.
How long can we store this paste?
This can be stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. It can be frozen in an ice-tray and stored for up to 6 months.
Ingredients
2lbs Tomatoes
Instructions
Wash the tomatoes well.
Chop them and grind to a fine purée
Run it through a sieve to separate out the seeds and lumps if any.
Now, In a pan, add this puree and let it boil on low to medium flame.
Keep stirring in between
The tomato puree will start to thicken and lose its water content.
Keep stirring and boiling until all the water content is removed and it’s thickened to a paste. This will take about 45 mins since it is a slow process on low to medium heat.
Once done, let it cool. If you intend to store it for a longer period, use an ice-tray to freeze it. If you plan on using the paste within 2-3 weeks, store it in an air-tight container and refrigerate.
