Veg Bread Rolls | Air Fryer

Updated: Dec 7, 2020

Bread rolls are a quick and easy snack for an evening or a party. Kids love these rolls. Usually, the rolls are stuffed with potato and are deep-fried. But, this recipe adds a healthy twist by using veggies such as cabbage, carrot, and bell peppers. When air-fried, and brushed with a few drops of oil, they come out very crisp and turn out delicious.

If you don't have an air fryer handy, you can pan fry or deep fry the rolls.

Do try it out and let me know your feedback in comments section below.

Ingredients

  • 10 slices of bread

  • 1 Big carrot

  • ½ Green and ½ Red Bell pepper or 1 Green Bell pepper (whichever is available to you)

  • ¼ of a medium sized Cabbage.

  • 3 cloves garlic

  • 1 tsp crushed black pepper

  • 1 tsp mixed Italian herbs (basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, garlic powder)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions

Make the filling

  • Grate carrot, bell pepper and cabbage using a food processor or grater. Grate the garlic.

  • In a pan, warm 2 tbsp oil on medium flame.

  • Add the grated garlic.

  • Sauté for a minute.

  • Now add the grated veggies and stir it.

  • Add crushed black pepper, Italian herbs and salt.

  • Sauté and cook in an open pan for 5 min. Do not overcook or make the veggies soggy.

  • Set aside to cool down.

Prepare the bread

  • Cut the edges of the bread slice. The edges can be powdered in a blender and used as bread crumbs for cutlets.

  • Roll the bread slice thin.

  • Place 1 tbsp of the filling in the center. And fold the bread. [Please check the video]

  • Apply water to all the openings and edges and seal them.

  • Place the rolls on the air-fryer basket.

  • Brush with water on both sides. This prevents the bread from becoming too dry while air-frying

  • Brush with oil.

Air Frying Method

  • Pre-heat air-fryer at 350F for 5 min

  • Air-fry at 350F for 8 min

  • Flip, brush with oil and air-fry at 350F for 5 min or until done.

Enjoy with tomato ketchup or Sriracha sauce.

Notes

  • Fresh bread or 2-3 days old bread works great for this dish. If the bread is too old, it may break while rolling.
